Working From Home and Staying Sane

I hope this message is finding you well. I know we all are continuing to adjust to the pandemic the world is currently experiencing. Most, if not all, non-essential workers are presently working from home or off until further notice. I’ve been a remote field worker for the past seven years, so working from home has become second nature to me. The monkey wrench is throw in a teenager and husband, and now you need to get crafty on maintaining your sanity. My office is off the kitchen wing, our sunroom, and while I have a fantastic view, it can sometimes get a bit noisy. I’m sharing with you today a few tips that have helped me maintain my sanity and remain productive on my work from home days.

-Avoid sleeping in…even if your office is in your home due to temporary circumstances! Rise and shine Kings and Queens, remember the early bird catches the worm! How you start the first hour of your day sets the tone for the rest of the day.

-Lose the PJs…you feel how you look. Brush your hair and put on a cute lipstick. If it’s nothing more than your basic classic tee and a comfy pair of jeans or lounge pants, your productivity level is bound to skyrocket when you look cute.

-Dedicated Workspace…avoid working from your bedroom or any places where you usually relax, we want each space to have a dedicated purpose. If WFH is a temporary situation, try to find a space as private as possible, try to avoid working from the bedroom at all costs.

-Physical Activity…if you feel you are getting overwhelmed, step outside that a walk. Turn on some music and dance it out. Anything to get your adrenal going.

-Keep a schedule…avoid the occasional goofing off by taking a scheduled lunch break and at least two 15- minutes breaks planned where you can do you personal internet browsing and social media checks

-Virtual Check-ins…Check-in with co-workers, family, and friends. While we are mostly under stay at home orders; we can still get creative. There is always FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, and many other virtual checks we can do to stay connected. Make sure you have at least one person you can call and vent to!

-Be productive…use this time wisely! Make memories with the family, knock out any lingering DIY/home projects, and by all means, stay safe.

I hope at least one of these tips will help you through the current unprecedented times we are experiencing. May God continue to bless you, and thank you for reading. Omniley
