I must admit my pantries were looking quite a mess at the end of this year. This was a priority on my list and I finally tackled the project again. For those of you who are new here, I have two pantries one I use in the traditional way and the other one I use to mainly store all of my serving ware and tabletop decor. Things tend to get crowded and both pantries were long overdue for a purge.

I started by taking everything out of the pantry and placing it in groups on my table. I then began going through everything checking expiration dates. This is the easy step I think…I can’t believe how many expired items I had in my pantry-shameful.

Once you have purged, check what you don’t need or never used and see if it can be donated in a sustainable matter. I then looked at my groups and at my space and calculated how many bins and containers I would need. I ended up going with Home Edits’ large bin they are  10 x 10 x 6 and fit perfectly on our shelves. I initially had white woven containers and got so many complaints from my husband and son so I switched it out for the clear ones. Once I switched to the clear ones I didn’t bother labeling of course.

I think it’s very important to be practical about your family pantry use behavior otherwise they will wreck your project. I’ve opted to put the highly used items on a Lazy Susan it’s readily accessible and makes life easier for everyone.

I would say my favorite time-saver I tackled with this project is by far organizing my spices!  This spice rack is very versatile it can be used in a drawer, place on the countertop, or mounted to a wall as I did.

My family is not too heavy on snacks so our pantry may look different from yours, but you get the idea right? I hope this brings you some inspiration to organize that pantry. Be Well-Omniley
